DC Might Buy Back Pant
Rishabh Pant is set to be released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega-auction as the team lists four retained players, according to reports.
After a month-long stretch and several intense speculations and discussions, it has been reported by ESPNCricinfo that the Delhi Capitals have finally released Rishabh Pant from their franchise, and the southpaw will be available for bidding at the mega auction.
One possible reason to release Pant could be the franchise buying him back at the auction, as said by ESPNcricinfo. Pant has been a crucial key for the team since 2016 and could possibly get hold of DC’s leadership again if he is bought back.
However, DC has been reported to retain four of their major contributors- Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel. With these retentions, DC will still have a purse value of INR 73 crore to build their new team.
Tristan Stubbs, who made his debut in the IPL 2022 edition, has played a total of 18 matches, contributing a whopping 405 runs at an amazing strike rate of 173.82. Another DC batter, Abhishek Porel, is an uncapped Indian player who also played 18 matches with a strike rate of 152.54 and amassed a total of 360 runs.

Amongst the spin duo, Axar Patel is an all-rounder and can be called an IPL veteran who started off his career back in 2013 with the Mumbai Indians. After switching to the Punjab Kings, DC roped him in in 2019 for INR 5 crore and has been retaining him since. Kuldeep Yadav, who has been standing aside DC from his initial IPL days back in 2016, was bought for INR 2 crore. The Chinaman has played a total of 84 matches, amassing a total of 87 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 8.21.
However, it must be noted that these retentions are a possibility and have not been submitted by the Delhi Capitals yet. The finalised retention list will be declared before 5 PM IST on October 31st.
