Rishabh Pant, ahead of his IPL comeback with Delhi Capitals, shared his thoughts on ‘Bazball’ during an appearance on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.

India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to make his highly awaited return, having recently appeared on the Club Prairie Fire podcast alongside cricket legends. In the discussion, ahead of his stint leading the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, Pant shared his views on ‘Bazball’ following England’s defeat in India. He stressed the importance of focusing on one’s own strengths rather than excessively dwelling on the opposition.

“I don’t think we are thinking about it too much. As a team, you have to find your strength and not think about the opposition too much. Yes, you have to take the knowledge of how they play but you got to focus on yourself and give your best shot instead of thinking about other teams,” Pant said.

The 26-year-old also revealed his favorite English bowler, acknowledging the challenge posed by every bowler while singling out Jimmy Anderson as particularly strong. Despite engaging in friendly clashes with Anderson on the field, he expressed immense respect for the legendary bowler’s consistent performance and dedication.

“But I would say the difficult part was Jimmy Anderson, I wouldn’t lie. He is a legend of the game and the way he has played is amazing. I feel that whatever you are doing on the field, it’s a different ball game altogether. But when you field respect for someone, you should appreciate that. That’s what cricket has taught me. That guy(Anderson) is amazing. Day in and day out just coming and bowling there, each day that’s what he does,” Pant added.

When asked about verbal exchanges in cricket, the DC skipper expressed appreciation for the intensity it brings to the game, stating that it adds a unique dynamic. He emphasized the competitive nature of cricket, where players strive passionately for victory. Despite the awareness of stump-mic presence, he believes in the occasional release of instincts to play freely and relax on the field.

Pant, making his comeback after a long break, aims to showcase his leadership and batting to make a significant impact in Indian cricket once again.
