Riyan Parag Warns Opponents
Riyan Parag stated that batters would have to work hard for runs on the challenging Jaipur pitch ahead of RR’s first home game of the season.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Riyan Parag has issued a word of caution to his opponents ahead of their first home game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, saying the pitch won’t offer easy runs and batters will have to earn every single one. RR are set to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday in Match 28 of IPL 2025.
So far in the season, Rajasthan Royals have played either away games or fixtures at their secondary home in Guwahati. Sunday’s game marks their return to Jaipur, where conditions are expected to be very different from most other venues in the tournament.
Parag highlighted how the pitch and ground dimensions make batting tougher in Jaipur.
“The wicket’s a little different. We’ve been seeing all these 240-260 high-scores where the wickets are pretty flat and the bounce is pretty consistent. Here, it’s a little different, the bounce is a little low, you’ve got to work for your runs, hit a lot of boundaries, run a lot of twos and then once you do that, then you are set, the big shots come in. We’re just figuring those things out and we’ve been practising here a lot, we know that really well,” Parag said before the match, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The stadium also has larger boundaries than most IPL venues, making big hitting more difficult. The 23-year-old batter, who finished as the second-highest run-scorer last season, has yet to reach a half-century in IPL 2025.
Speaking about his own form and batting position, he said, “Last year, everything came together collectively. Trying to do the same this year, gotten a lot of starts, just trying to convert those starts into big innings. I was 3 for the first two games, I am back at No. 4 now. I’ve been playing at 4 for the last three games. I think that’s gonna be the same for the next few games and the rest of the season. I’m back at my happy place, I hope to contribute a little bit more with the bat and see how it goes,” he added.
Parag also expressed his desire to make the most of this IPL season and earn a return to the Indian national side. “Just trying to have another good IPL season and hopefully get back in India colours soon,” he said.
