Robin Uthappa warned that India should not become overconfident and must stay focused in every match during the Asia Cup.
T20 World Cup winner Robin Uthappa has cautioned the Indian cricket team against becoming overconfident as they aim to defend their title in the 2025 Asia Cup. India is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE, with the top two teams advancing to the Super Four stage.
Although India enters the tournament as the favourites, Uthappa stressed the importance of staying focused and maintaining intensity, even against teams perceived to be weaker. He then advised that every opponent should be treated with respect and that players must avoid complacency.
“I think complacency is a danger, so I’d make sure they take every game respectfully. The quality of players is so good that sometimes you can take your foot off the pedal, thinking, ‘Listen, we’ll dominate, so you can relax.’ That is something they need to look out for,” Uthappa said while speaking on Sony Sports.

“They need to make sure the health of the team is really good. In this unit, there may be two or three more guys who are going to be the key contenders for the World Cup next year. So you want everyone getting along, keeping the dressing room atmosphere light, but at the same time, playing for each other,” he continued.
“A team like Afghanistan, where the bowling is really good, can put pressure on them,” the former cricketer concluded.
The tournament will start on September 10, with India facing the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
