During a promotional shoot for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Team India captain Rohit Sharma humorously presented the ICC ODI Team of the Year cap to teammate Kuldeep Yadav.
India captain Rohit Sharma humorously teased Kuldeep Yadav during a promotional event where he presented the spinner with the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2023 cap. Kuldeep, who claimed the highest number of wickets (49) in the format last year, was included in the prestigious team and received his cap from Sharma in a light-hearted ceremony shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a funny video.
As Rohit lauded Kuldeep for his outstanding performance and called him an asset to the team, Kuldeep confidently mentioned his contributions with both bat and ball. This prompted Rohit to humorously question when Kuldeep showcased his batting skills, given his primary role as a bowler.
Kuldeep responded, mentioning his performance in a Test series, to which Rohit quipped, “This is for ODI, I was the captain of this team. I’ve never seen him bat. So, I don’t know what he is talking about.”
Kuldeep Yadav has shown his batting skills in Test matches, notably with a 40-run knock against Bangladesh and a crucial 28-run stand against England. Despite his all-round contributions, he was surprisingly dropped from the team after his performance against Bangladesh. In ODIs, Kuldeep has scored 190 runs across 37 innings.
