Rohit Sharma is focused on the upcoming T20 World Cup in June, aiming to clinch the title, expressing his desire to continue his impactful international career for several more years.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma recently addressed speculation about his retirement from T20Is after the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, stating his intention to continue representing India across formats for a few more years. Currently active in IPL 2024 with Mumbai Indians, Rohit’s immediate focus lies on the T20 World Cup in June, aiming to secure India’s maiden ICC title under his leadership.

Reflecting on his illustrious 17-year international career, Rohit expressed his desire to prolong his impact in world cricket.

“The journey has been wonderful, it has been 17 years; I still hope to play a few more years as well & make an impact in World cricket. Captaining your country is the biggest honor that you can have, and for me, I have never thought that this would arrive where I’ll be captaining one day. But yeah, people say good things happen to good people,” Rohit said in an interview with Dubai Eye 103.8.

As India’s captain, Rohit Sharma also emphasized the importance of team unity and collective effort over personal achievements. He stressed the need for all players to work towards a common goal of winning trophies rather than focusing on individual stats. Reflecting on his life’s challenges, Rohit further acknowledged experiencing more lows than highs, shaping him into the person he is today.

“When I took over as India Captain, I just wanted everyone to drive in one direction that’s how the team sport should be played, it’s not about personal milestones & personal stats & goals, it is about what all 11 of us can bring to the table & win the trophy,” Rohit said.

“I have seen more downs than ups in my life, and the human and person I am today is because of what I have seen in the past, and in the downs,” he added.
