Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma visited the newly built Nassau County stadium in New York and expressed his excitement about the atmosphere.
The United States is making history as co-host of the T20 World Cup, alongside the West Indies. This marks the first time the USA will be hosting an ICC event, and New York is at the centre of the excitement.
A brand new stadium in Nassau County has been built specifically for the tournament in East Meadow, New York. With a capacity of approximately 34,000, the stadium is ready to welcome passionate cricket fans.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma recently visited the stadium ahead of his team’s warm-up match against Bangladesh. He expressed his enthusiasm about the new venue in a video uploaded by the ICC.

“We’re primarily here to understand the conditions before the main tournament begins. We haven’t played here before, so it’s important to get used to them and be prepared for our first game on June 5th. It’s all about getting into the rhythm, feeling the ground, the pitch, and everything else,” Sharma said.
The construction is particularly noteworthy. Populous, the firm behind the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat, India, designed the Nassau County stadium using a unique, temporary aluminium exterior. This new venue will be the stage for the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan on June 5th.
Describing the stadium, Sharma seemed excited. “It’s quite open ground. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere here during our first game. The capacity seems good, and hopefully, it will be a packed house. With the World Cup happening in the US for the first time, I expect a lot of interest from cricket fans in New York,” concluded the Indian skipper.
