A viral video featuring Rohit Sharma confirmed that Sarfaraz Khan, not Dhruv Jurel, predicted Ollie Pope’s dismissal during the India-England Test series.
A recent social media video featuring Indian captain Rohit Sharma has put an end to the light-hearted debate surrounding the dismissal of England batter Ollie Pope during the recently concluded Test series against India.
The wicket-keeping duties for the latter half of the series fell to young Dhruv Jurel, and a video clip capturing a voice predicting Pope’s dismissal just before it happened sparked a playful online debate. While many attributed the voice to Jurel, batter Sarfaraz Khan also staked his claim, who was also positioned at the leg slip.
In a recent social media clip, Rohit Sharma clears up the confusion, crediting Sarfaraz Khan for his anticipation and quick thinking. Watch the video below:
Rohit cleared the air by crediting where the credit is due: “By the way, that stumping was brilliant. Sarfaraz Khan was the one who predicted that. I had stationed him a bit further up, in short leg, when he said, ‘Now, he’ll leave the crease. Be ready for a stumping. (Ab yeh aage badhega)’ Next ball… brilliant,” said the Indian skipper.
Besides appreciating Sarfaraz, Sharma also expressed his enjoyment of playing with the young Indian team as he was heard saying, “I thoroughly enjoyed playing with these boys. Hopefully, in the future, we’ll play a lot more.”
Sharma’s revelation, therefore, highlights the presence of a dynamic within the young Indian team, displaying active communication and strategizing on the field. This awareness and adaptability were on display throughout the series which ultimately contributed to India’s dominant 4-1 victory.
