Rohit Sharma was set to undergo fitness tests at BCCI’s CoE in Bengaluru before his ODI comeback against Australia.

India ODI captain Rohit Sharma was set to undergo a fitness test at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence (formerly known as the National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru before making his competitive return.

Rohit last featured in the IPL 2025 for Mumbai Indians, while his last international appearance came in the Champions Trophy final in March this year.

According to The Times of India, the 38-year-old will spend two to three days at the CoE, where he will undergo several tests, including the newly introduced Bronco Test, to prove his fitness for the upcoming ODI series against Australia. During his stay, the veteran opener is also expected to take part in practice sessions to shake off the rust after nearly three months out of action.

“Yes, Rohit will be at the BCCI’s CoE from September 13 for fitness tests. He will be based here for two-three days and will also practice at the facility to fine-tune his preparations for the Australia white-ball tour in November,” TOI quoted a source as saying.

“With the CoE also staging the Duleep Trophy final at its main ground (A) from September 11-15, Rohit will undergo fitness tests and train at a different ground at the same facility,” the source added.

Reports suggest Rohit, along with Virat Kohli, could feature for India A in a three-match one-day series against Australia A starting September 30. All three matches are scheduled at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. These fixtures may serve as crucial preparation for both senior players ahead of the ODI series in Australia, beginning October 19.

The India skipper has been training in Mumbai under the guidance of former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. Earlier this year, Rohit and Kohli retired from Test cricket and had already quit T20Is in 2024, leaving ODIs as their only format at the international level.
