Nick Knight commended Rohit Sharma’s captaincy skills after India’s Day 3 resurgence, highlighting Rohit’s effective leadership in steering the team’s fightback.
Former England opener Nick Knight commended India skipper Rohit Sharma for his leadership during Day 3 of the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot. Despite England’s strong start at 207/2, India’s bowling attack led to England’s collapse, losing eight wickets for just 95 runs.
Knight praised India’s bowling performance and Rohit’s strategic direction, acknowledging how they stifled England’s batters, who posed a threat earlier in the match. Reflecting on the match dynamics, Knight remarked on the effectiveness of India’s tactics and Rohit’s role in steering the team.
“We talked about how Bazball works. We’re now going to talk about how it doesn’t work on odd occasion. I don’t think it was really Bazball. Actually, I think you’ve got to give a lot of credit to the way India bowled, they had a terrific day. I thought Rohit Sharma captained the side really well. We talked about heart, we saw plenty of that from Siraj,” Nick Knight said on the air.
Knight also highlighted the turning point for England on Day 3 of the Rajkot Test, pinpointing Joe Root’s dismissal as the beginning of their downfall. According to the former opener, England struggled to recover after Root’s exit, allowing India to gain momentum and put pressure on them.
He suggested that Root’s dismissal, particularly while attempting a reverse sweep and getting caught in the slip cordon, reflected a tentative approach from the England team, which ultimately contributed to their decline in performance.
