Rohit Sharma got an injury scare ahead of India-Pakistan clash while practicing in the nets.
India’s T20 World Cup campaign began with a dominant win over Ireland on June 5th. However, a shadow of concern has loomed over the team’s captain, Rohit Sharma.
Sharma was forced to retire hurt during the Ireland match due to a suspected injury. Although declared fit to play later, Sharma has picked up another knock while practicing in the nets, raising questions about his availability for the crucial upcoming clash against Pakistan.
During a recent net session, a throwdown specialist’s delivery struck Sharma’s fingers, causing visible pain. The Indian medical staff rushed to attend to him, and after receiving treatment, Sharma continued batting.
This marked the second injury scare for the 37-year-old batter in the tournament. The team will be hoping he avoids further setbacks before their high-profile clash against Pakistan. Adding to the team’s worries is the unpredictable pitch at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Variable bounce has already caused problems for players, prompting the ICC to intervene and attempt to rectify the surface. India will play three out of their four group-stage matches at this venue.

Despite a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Ireland, India will be eager to maintain their winning momentum against Pakistan, led by captain Babar Azam. In contrast, Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat to co-hosts USA in their opening match. They will face Canada before their much-anticipated encounter with India, hoping to secure a win and boost their confidence.
With both teams facing their own challenges, the upcoming clash between India and Pakistan promises to be a tense and closely contested affair. However, India’s hopes could hinge on the fitness of their skipper, Rohit Sharma.
