Sai Sudharsan grabs a risky catch during the India vs West Indies 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India’s batter Sai Sudharsan produced a moment of pure brilliance on the field, demonstrating why the short leg position is considered one of the most challenging in Test cricket. Stationed perilously close to the batter, a fielder there has mere milliseconds to react.
Sudharsan’s instincts were on full display when he pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss West Indies’ John Campbell, who had smashed a powerful sweep shot directly towards him.
Campbell Stunned At Sudharsan’s Catch
Facing a massive Indian first-innings total of 518, the West Indies needed a solid start. Campbell’s aggressive intent, however, led to his downfall. He connected firmly with a full delivery from Ravindra Jadeja, sending the ball rocketing towards short leg.
In a split second, Sudharsan ducked, positioned his hands in front of his chest, and miraculously held onto a catch that seemed to defy physics, leaving the batter and spectators in disbelief.

The catch capped off a dream Test for Sudharsan, who had earlier showcased his talent with the bat. On Day 1, he played a crucial innings, forming a formidable partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, he tormented the West Indian attack and scored a brilliant 87 off 165 balls and laid a solid platform for captain Shubman Gill. Though he fell agonizingly short of a maiden century, his all-round contribution with both bat and a truly spectacular catch made it a memorable match for the young player.
