Sai Sudharsan is not fielding on Day 3 of IND vs WI 2nd Test to recover from an injury sustained on Day 2.
Indian batter Sai Sudharsan was kept out of action on the third day of the second Test against West Indies as a precautionary measure following an impact injury sustained while taking a spectacular catch on Day 2. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development, assuring fans that the injury is not serious.
The incident occurred during the eighth over when Ravindra Jadeja’s delivery was powerfully slog-swept by John Campbell directly toward Sudharsan at forward short leg. In a display of quick reflexes, the young fielder managed to trap the ball between his helmet, hands, and chest, completing a brilliant catch that left both batsman and spectators astonished.
BCCI Release official Statement For Sai
In an official statement, the BCCI provided reassurance about the player’s condition: “Sai Sudharsan had an impact injury on Day 2 while attempting a catch. He hasn’t taken the field today as a precautionary measure. The injury isn’t serious and he is doing fine.” The board added that the 22-year-old “continues to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team.”
The injury setback comes after Sudharsan’s impressive performance with the bat on Day 1, where he scored a career-best 87 runs – his highest Test score to date. Despite the admirable innings, the batter expressed his desire for more, having narrowly missed out on his maiden Test century.
