Sarfaraz Khan will miss the Duleep Trophy for West Zone due to a quadriceps injury but is expected to return for Mumbai’s Ranji campaign starting October 15.
Sarfaraz Khan has been ruled out of the Duleep Trophy 2025 after suffering a quadriceps injury during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Chennai. Sarfaraz, who struck consecutive centuries in that event, sustained the injury while batting against Haryana. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Sarfaraz was set to feature for defending champions West Zone in the semi-final against Central Zone starting September 4, but the injury has forced him out of the squad. Even if West Zone reach the final, he will remain unavailable.

Medical advice indicates that the Mumbai batter will require at least three weeks of recovery. However, he is expected to return in time for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy campaign, which begins on October 15.
Meanwhile, Baroda batter Shivalik Sharma is likely to replace Sarfaraz Khan in the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy 2025. Shivalik was initially named among the reserves and has solid credentials in domestic cricket. He has scored 1,087 runs from 18 First-Class matches at an average of 43.48, including three centuries and five fifties.
