According to reports from News18 Cricket, Both Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara will receive honors from the Saurashtra Cricket Association ahead of the third India-England Test in Rajkot.
The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) is set to recognize the remarkable achievements of Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara, applauding their significant contributions to Indian cricket at both regional and national levels. Pujara’s recent induction into the prestigious 100-Test club, a feat achieved by only twelve other Indian players, and Jadeja’s consistent match-winning performances across various formats, culminating in his current top rank as ICC Test all-rounder
The occasion will be celebrated during the renaming ceremony of the SCA Stadium to the Niranjan Shah Stadium on February 14, as announced by SCA President Jaydev Shah.
“We will be felicitating both Pujara and Ravindra during the function for new name of the stadium,” said SCA President Jaydev Shah.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the squad for the remaining three England Tests, notably omitting Cheteshwar Pujara, despite his consistent run-scoring performances for Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

Jaydev Shah also expressed his sentiments, highlighting the absence of their local talent Pujara in the England series. Despite the disappointment, Shah emphasized Pujara’s dedication and contribution to Saurashtra cricket.
“I can’t say much on that (Pujara not playing) because it’s the team management’s and selectors’ call but had he been there, we would have been very proud. It’s not that we are not proud now, but we would have been more proud had he played. He has played over 100 Test matches and not many have managed to do that in India. Him playing at Rajkot would have been great but that’s part of the game. You don’t get everything what you dream. He has worked very hard. He made Saurashtra very proud,” he said.
The SCA has invited Jadeja and his family for the felicitation, expressing optimism about his attendance. Despite reports of Jadeja’s injury, Jaydev anticipates his presence at the event and plans to honor him as the world’s top Test all-rounder. The SCA has also extended invitations to top BCCI officials and dignitaries, with BCCI secretary Jay Shah set to unveil the stadium’s new name ahead of the third Test.
