After Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their third IPL title, franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the victory by giving a heartfelt kiss on mentor Gautam Gambhir’s forehead.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended a nine-year wait for an Indian Premier League (IPL) title, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets in the final to claim their third IPL trophy. The win was a cause for great celebration, especially for KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who was delighted with the team’s performance.
Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, KKR had a successful league stage, finishing at the top of the points table with nine wins. They then faced SRH twice in crucial matches, winning both matches by the same margin to secure the championship.
The return of former captain Gautam Gambhir as a mentor was seen as a turning point for KKR this season. His influence played a significant role in the team’s success, leading them back to the top after their last title wins in 2012 and 2014. After the final, the KKR camp was filled with joy, and Shah Rukh Khan was quick to congratulate his players, showing his affection by hugging almost everyone and even kissing Gambhir’s forehead, in a display of his happiness and appreciation for the team’s hard-fought victory.

Chasing the target, KKR lost Sunil Narine early but Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer’s innings secured the win. Gurbaz scored 39 off 32 balls, while Iyer remained unbeaten on 52 off 26, leading KKR to an eight-wicket victory and their third IPL title.
