A recent video of Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi has sparked speculation about tensions in Pakistan cricket after their historic defeat against Bangladesh.
Pakistan’s bid to secure their first win in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle was dismissed on Sunday as Bangladesh achieved a historic 10-wicket victory in the opening Test of their series in Rawalpindi. This win marks Bangladesh’s first-ever Test victory over Pakistan, whether at home or away. The visitors now lead the two-match series 1-0, with the series decider scheduled to take place at the same venue starting August 30.
After the match, a video showing Pakistan captain Shan Masood and star pacer Shaheen Afridi went viral, that sparked speculation about tensions within the Pakistan cricket team. The video captures Shan standing next to Shaheen during a team huddle when Shaheen is seen removing Shan’s arms from his shoulders.
During the match, Bangladesh spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan played pivotal roles, taking seven wickets between them to secure the landmark win. Mehidy claimed 4-21, while Shakib added 3-44, leading to a dramatic collapse of the Pakistan batting lineup. The home side was dismissed for 146 runs in 55.5 overs, setting Bangladesh a target of just 30 runs.

Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam achieved the target in just 6.3 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for Pakistan in the second inning with 51 runs, including six boundaries. However, Pakistan’s chances of salvaging a draw diminished as they slumped to 108-6 at lunch. Mehidy dismissed Rizwan and Mohammad Ali in successive overs, sealing Bangladesh’s historic win. Zakir hit the winning boundary, with Shadman remaining unbeaten on nine as Bangladesh celebrated their memorable victory.
