Shaheen Afridi dismissed rumors of discontent within the Pakistan team while acknowledging that minor disagreements are natural but not disruptive.
Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has refuted claims of any discontent within the squad regarding the leadership issue, following Babar Azam’s reinstatement as captain of the national team, replacing Shaheen after his brief stint as captain for just one series.
Speaking on a PCB podcast on Friday, Afridi stressed the critical importance of unity for achieving success in major events, stating that minor disagreements are common in every team but should not be blown out of proportion.
“Sometimes, small disagreements happen in every family, even among brothers. But there’s nothing like that in our team,” Afridi asserted, highlighting the team’s camaraderie. He emphasized that the players listen to each other and are focused on their duty to play cricket and bring joy to the nation.
“We aim to play with unity, and this is not the time for arguments or disputes. It’s the time for everyone to be on the same page,” Afridi added, underscoring the team’s commitment moving forward.

He mentioned being pleased with his bowling rhythm and pace, emphasizing the team’s resilience in clinching the series victory after an initial loss. Acknowledging the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket, he further noted that bowlers inevitably encounter off-days in the fast-paced format.
