Shane Watson believes Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, should tune out the criticism from fans and concentrate on showcasing his exceptional skills, emphasizing Pandya’s talent as a tactician and leader.
Mumbai Indians’ captain, Hardik Pandya, has faced significant criticism from fans following the team’s recent string of losses in the IPL. Stepping in for the legendary Rohit Sharma, Pandya’s leadership has been under scrutiny.
When speaking to Jio Cinema, two-time World Cup-winning all-rounder Shane Watson advised Pandya to disregard the negativity and concentrate on his game. Watson emphasized Pandya’s ability to perform under pressure, urging him to block out distractions and focus on executing his skills.
“For Hardik, the one thing that he’s done so well throughout his career is been able to just shut out the noise, put his blinkers on, just put his headphones on and just focus on his ability to be able to execute his skill under immense pressure — and he’s done that,” Watson said.
“He is such an incredibly skilled cricketer and he’s a great tactician and a great leader. So, he just needs to shut out the noise that’s obviously all around,” said Watson. “And he does need to put his headphones on and not allow any of that noise that’s around the grounds to be able to penetrate his bubble. That’s when he’s at his best, that bubble is bulletproof,” he added.
With three consecutive losses, MI sits at the bottom of the league standings. Historically, MI tends to start slowly but has a reputation for making strong comebacks, as seen in 2015 when they won the title after losing their initial games. Their next match is against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium on April 7th.
