Shimron Hetmyer was fined 10% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on May 24.

Rajasthan Royals had a tough day on Friday, May 24, facing a defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 36 runs in Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Shimron Hetmyer from Rajasthan Royals faced consequences as he was fined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for breaching the Code of Conduct, though BCCI has not mentioned the exact reason.

During Rajasthan’s innings, Hetmyer was dismissed by Abhishek Sharma in the 14th over while chasing a target of 176 runs. In a moment of frustration, Hetmyer smashed the stumps, possibly leading to his Level 1 offense under the IPL Code of Conduct. Consequently, he admitted to the offense and accepted a 10% fine on his match fees.

The decision was made by match referee Javagal Srinath, a former Indian fast bowler. BCCI stated that for Level 1 breaches, the Match Referee’s ruling stands as final.

“Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals has been fined 10 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Qualifier 2 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on May 24,” the BCCI official statement read.

“Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offense and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the statement added.
