England’s Shoaib Bashir’s comical review for a clean bowled dismissal lightened the mood in India’s dominant victory by an innings and 64 runs.

A humorous incident happened during the fifth Test match between England and India. Shoaib Bashir, a young spinner from England mistakenly called for a review after being cleanly bowled.

In the 46th over, the tail-ender Shoaib Bashir was batting. Ravindra Jadeja delivered an arm ball that nipped back in after pitching. It dislodged Bashir’s stumps. However, the 20-year-old, seemingly unaware of his dismissal, opted for a review. This decision left his teammate Joe Root in stitches, who promptly informed Bashir that he had been bowled.

Having declared their first innings at 477 runs, they put immense pressure on the English batting lineup as they trailed by 259 runs in their second innings. However, England failed to impress as Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed England’s opener Ben Duckett for just 2 runs and sent back Zak Crawley for a duck, delivering a blow to their batting lineup early on.

The match saw a comprehensive victory for India, who secured a dominant win by an innings and 64 runs. It sealed a convincing 4-1 series win for Rohit Sharma and company and bagged a 12-pointer for the WTC rankings.
