Shubman Gill was blamed by Sanjay Bangar for poor mix-up with Jaiswal that costed the latter his double ton.
A costly miscommunication between India’s young batting stars dominated Day 2 of the second Test against West Indies, with former batting coach Sanjay Bangar attributing primary responsibility to captain Shubman Gill for the run-out that ended Yashasvi Jaiswal’s magnificent knock at 175.
The dismissal proved particularly painful as it robbed Jaiswal of what would have been his third career double-century, falling just 25 runs short of the milestone. The incident unfolded in the 92nd over when Jaiswal drove a Jayden Seales delivery through mid-wicket and immediately set off for a quick single.

Bangar Blames Gill For The Mishap
According to Bangar’s analysis during commentary, Gill initially responded to the call before abruptly changing his mind. “He immediately went off after the drive. Gill started initially and then said ‘no’,” Bangar observed, noting the awkward situation that left Jaiswal stranded mid-pitch as West Indies wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach completed the dismissal.
The batting expert firmly believed the responsibility lay with the non-striker in this scenario. “It was a striker’s call that Gill needed to agree on. Jaiswal came down and returned a lot of ground. Non-striker ki zyada galti maanta hu main (I think in this case the non-striker is to blame),” Bangar emphasized.

However, not all experts shared this perspective. Former Indian captain Anil Kumble offered a contrasting view during his analysis, stating, “It was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fault. He would not have made it even to the non-striker’s end because it went straight to the mid-off fielder. There was absolutely no chance.”
The dramatic mix-up left Jaiswal visibly frustrated, with the young batter slamming his bat in disappointment before departing, while Gill remained at the crease to continue India’s dominant position in the match.
