Indian Test captain Shubman Gill showcased his athletic brilliance with a spectacular running catch that ended Tagenarine Chanderpaul’s resistance on Day 3 of the second Test against West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The pivotal moment came when the left-handed opener attempted to pull a Mohammed Siraj delivery but mistimed it, sending the ball looping toward the 30-yard circle where Gill sprinted and completed a perfectly judged catch.
The stunning fielding effort, which left Chanderpaul dismissed for 10 off 30 balls, was captured by Star Sports and quickly went viral across social media platforms. The dismissal added to a disappointing series for the 29-year-old West Indian batsman, who managed just 52 runs across four innings despite carrying the legacy of his legendary father, former captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
Meanwhile, spin sensation Kuldeep Yadav continued his remarkable form, orchestrating West Indies’ collapse with a magnificent five-wicket haul. The left-arm wrist-spinner’s figures of 5/82 from 26.5 overs in the first innings proved instrumental in India’s dominance. This performance marked Kuldeep’s fifth Test five-wicket haul, helping him equal former England spinner Johnny Wardle’s record for most fifers by a left-arm wrist spinner in Test cricket.
