Sourav Ganguly declined to comment on Sanjiv Goenka’s animated chat with LSG skipper KL Rahul, stating that it wouldn’t be fair to judge based solely on a TV clip.
Following a resounding defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad, uncertainty hangs over the Lucknow Super Giants camp. Speculation swirls as the team remains conspicuously silent on social media. Among the chatter, a heated exchange between franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka and skipper KL Rahul has ignited social media. Rumors suggest Rahul may be ousted from his captaincy role, paving the way for a fresh leadership approach.

However, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly urged caution, emphasizing the need to understand the full context of the conversation before passing judgment. He asserted that making comments based solely on a snippet from television would be unjust.
“It is not fair for me to make a comment based on a TV grab. I don’t know what Sanjeev had spoken to Rahul. So, I leave it at that,” Ganguly said.
Lucknow’s rollercoaster IPL season saw them initially contending for a top-4 spot, but consistency proved elusive. Despite starting with a loss to Rajasthan Royals, they rallied with a three-match win streak. However, they now languish sixth in the points table.
Injuries, notably to pace bowler Mayank Yadav, have weakened their bowling. International-level spinners Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi struggled for regular wickets. The top order’s failure to fire added pressure on skipper KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis to carry the batting load.
Lucknow’s playoff hopes hinge on wins against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, coupled with favorable results elsewhere. Despite the challenges, a third consecutive playoff appearance remains within reach for the team.
