Indian former captain Sourav Ganguly informed India Today about Rishabh Pant’s health, post his accident in 2022, and his comeback in Delhi Capitals for the next IPL tournament.

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant went through a tumultuous accident on the Delhi highway near Roorkee in December of 2022. As a result of this, the cricketer suffered a fractured wrist, ankle, toe, and back and sustained a head injury. Consequentially, his professional career paused, with him missing the following IPL, the World Test Championship Final, the Asia Cup, and the ODI Cricket World Cup.

During his time off the field, Pant has made impressive progress in his recovery. He has been dedicated to regular gym sessions and has included yoga and pilates in his routine to facilitate his rehabilitation, a lot of which he documented on his social media page.

Attributing to his rigorous fitness regime, the former Delhi Capitals’ captain is expected to return to professional cricket early next year. On November 9, 2023, the director of the Delhi Capitals and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly spoke to India Today about Pant’s comeback saying, “Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season. He will not practice now. He is here till 11th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auction.”

Rishabh Pant’s IPL career has been outstanding, featuring 98 matches where he has amassed an impressive 2838 runs at an impressive average of 34.61. His remarkable record includes a century and 15 half-centuries, and his highest IPL score stands at an impressive 128*. Furthermore, Pant has showcased his attacking prowess with 260 fours and 129 sixes in his IPL journey.
