SRH Won By 8 Wickets
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pulled off a breathtaking chase at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, hunting down a mammoth target of 246 to defeat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 8 wickets in the 27th match of IPL 2025. The star of the night was young opener Abhishek Sharma, who hammered a jaw-dropping 141 off 55 balls, registering the fastest century for SRH in IPL history — off just 40 balls.
Chasing a record 246, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came out all guns blazing, smashing 171 runs for the opening stand in just 12.2 overs. While Head played a fluent hand of 66 off 37 (9 fours, 3 sixes), it was Abhishek who stole the show with a sensational display of power-hitting — smashing 14 fours and 10 sixes at a strike rate of over 256.
Despite the quick dismissals of both openers, SRH didn’t lose momentum. Heinrich Klaasen (21* off 14) and Ishan Kishan (9* off 6) guided the team home with 9 balls to spare, completing the highest successful run chase in IPL history.
Earlier, Punjab Kings posted a daunting 245/6 after being put in to bat. Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a fiery 82 off 36, including 6 fours and 6 sixes. Openers Priyansh Arya (36 off 13) and Prabhsimran Singh (42 off 23) gave PBKS a brisk start. Late cameos from Marcus Stoinis (34* off 11) and Marco Jansen helped PBKS surge past 240.

However, their bowling failed to defend the total against an onslaught led by the rampaging Abhishek. Harshal Patel (4/42) was the lone bright spot in an otherwise lackluster bowling performance, with others leaking runs at an alarming rate.
With this win, SRH continues their impressive run this season, fueled by aggressive batting and record-breaking chases. Abhishek Sharma was deservedly named the Player of the Match for his unforgettable century.
