All teams participating in this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India have revealed their 15-player squads, with any subsequent changes now necessitating approval from the ICC.
India had to alter their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup due to Axar Patel’s failure to recover from a left quadriceps strain sustained during the Asia Cup. Ravichandran Ashwin, the seasoned spinner, steps in as his replacement, showcasing his prowess with four wickets in two recent ODI matches against Australia. Ashwin brings invaluable experience from his participation in the 2011 and 2015 World Cups, where he claimed 13 wickets in eight matches during India’s journey to the semi-finals in the latter edition.
Australia’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup squad also saw a last-minute adjustment due to injury, as seasoned spinner Ashton Agar was sidelined due to a calf concern. In his place, experienced batter Marnus Labuschagne steps in, despite not initially being part of Australia’s preliminary squad. Labuschagne’s impressive recent performances in 50-over matches against South Africa and India paved the way for his late inclusion, offering a valuable addition to the team.
As of September 28th, the last day for squad announcements, all participating teams in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India have locked in their 15-player rosters, requiring ICC approval for any future alterations.
