“Go With Batting First Approach, Pat Cummins Is Key”: Suresh Raina’s Words of Advice For SRH Ahead of IPL 2024 Final

Suresh Raina advised Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to bat first and praised Pat Cummins’ leadership ahead of the IPL 2024 final.

The IPL 2024 final is underway today, i.e., on May 26th, between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, and speculations are coming in waves as to which team will overshadow and lift the trophy this year.

Amidst all the noise, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina shared some valuable opinions that might go in favour of SRH. Raina opined that Sunrisers Hyderabad should stick with their strategy of batting first.

“Sunrisers should back their batting first approach and put runs on the board, but the eight overs of spin will be crucial. With KKR having won an IPL in Chennai, the pressure will be different,” shared Raina, as quoted by NDTV.

Raina, speaking to JioCinema, also highlighted the importance of SRH captain Pat Cummins’ leadership, especially after his recent ODI World Cup win. Raina credited Cummins’ experience in keeping the team focused and motivated.

“The key point for SRH is Pat Cummins, who has already won the World Cup; he knows how to keep the dressing room running. You follow the process, you are switched on for the finals, the players know their roles, and everything will be organised,” Raina concluded.

Notably, KKR dominated the league stage, finishing atop the points table with nine wins. They secured a direct spot in the final after defeating SRH in qualifier one. SRH, however, earned a second chance by defeating the Rajasthan Royals in qualifier two and has been placed in the finals to avenge the two-time IPL champions.
