Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening round of the Duleep Trophy due to a hand injury he sustained last week, which also forced him to sit out the final day of the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.
According to reports from PTI, Suryakumar Yadav will not be available for the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, set to begin on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru. The Indian batter sustained a hand injury during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore while representing Mumbai against TNCA XI. Due to the injury, he was unable to participate in the final day’s play and is still recovering, which has led to his withdrawal from the Duleep Trophy match.
Suryakumar was initially scheduled to play for India C against India D in Anantapur, but BCCI sources have also confirmed his absence. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, other matches in the tournament, including India A versus India B, will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The Duleep Trophy is a key opportunity for players vying for spots in India’s Test squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, beginning September 19 in Chennai.
Suryakumar Yadav’s absence due to injury adds to Team C’s challenges in the Duleep Trophy, as they have already lost pacer Umran Malik to illness.
