The ICC announced the schedule for T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up matches, with games played across the USA and Trinidad and Tobago from May 27th to June 1st.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the schedule for warm-up matches ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. These matches will be crucial for teams to sharpen their strategies before the main tournament kicks off on June 3rd in the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
The warm-up fixtures will be played between May 27th and June 1st, with a total of 16 games scheduled. Each match will be 20 overs per side, but unlike official T20 internationals, they will not hold international status. This allows teams the flexibility to field all members of their 15-player squads and experiment with different combinations.
There’s an interesting makeover this year due to varying team arrival times. Unlike previous tournaments where teams played a set number of warm-up matches, this time around, teams can play up to two warm-up games depending on when they arrive.
This unique scenario adds intrigue to the lead-up to the World Cup. While some teams get extra practice time, others will rely on their recent form or internal scrimmages to be match-ready. With the tournament just around the corner, cricket fans can expect a thrilling few weeks of warm-up action, followed by the highly anticipated T20 World Cup.
