The second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati will have tea before lunch to adjust for the city’s early sunset.

In a rare scheduling change, the second Test between India and South Africa in Guwahati will see players taking tea before lunch. The decision was made due to Guwahati’s early sunrise and sunset, which often reduces playing time in the evening.

In India, Test matches usually begin at 9:30 am with a 40-minute lunch break from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm, followed by a 20-minute tea break between 2:10 pm and 2:30 pm. The final session typically runs from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Match officials can extend play by 30 minutes to ensure 90 overs are completed in a day.

Meanwhile, the match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium begins on November 22, with play starting at 9 am. The first session runs from 9 to 11 am, followed by a 20-minute tea break. The second session continues from 11:20 am to 1:20 pm, after which players will have a 40-minute lunch break until 2 pm. The final session will be played from 2 to 4 pm. Officials confirmed that the adjustment aims to maximize daylight and ensure full playing hours across all five days.
