Ex-Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu blamed RCB’s bowling and batting weakness for their perennial failures in the IPL.
Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has criticised the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for their shortcomings in both bowling and batting, attributing these weaknesses to their repeated failures in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rayudu’s comments came after LSG’s convincing 28-run victory over RCB on April 2nd. He participated in a post-match discussion on Star Sports where he was asked about the factors behind RCB’s loss.
“I feel their bowling always gives over-par runs, and their batting performs under par. No big-name batter is seen playing for RCB when they are under pressure. Such teams never win. This is why they have not won the IPL for so many years,” said Rayudu.

Rayudu further elaborated on his concerns, highlighting the pressure placed on younger and less experienced players during crucial moments in the game. “All the young players keep playing down the order, and the big-name players go at the top and leave after eating the cream over the cake. If you see, who were the batters batting under pressure—your young Indian batters and Dinesh Karthik?” he added.
Rayudu was particularly critical of RCB’s established international players, whom he believes have not performed consistently under pressure. “Your big-name international players who need to take the pressure—where were they? All of them were in the dressing room. This is not happening today. This has been this team’s story for the last 16 years,” added Rayudu.

RCB’s batting woes were evident in their chase of LSG’s 182-run target. They were left reeling at 58/4 after just 7.4 overs, with their star players—Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Cameron Green—all back in the pavilion. While Mahipal Lomror and Rajat Patidar tried to salvage the chase (33 runs off 13 balls and 29 runs off 21 balls, respectively), RCB ultimately fell short of the target.
