Having played 92 matches for Mumbai Indians, Hardik later captained Gujarat Titans, guiding them to the final in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, securing victory in their debut year.
Mahela Jayawardene, Mumbai Indians’ Global Head of Performance, highlighted the team’s legacy-building approach. He emphasized the franchise’s philosophy of future readiness, praising past leaders like Sachin, Harbhajan, Ricky, and Rohit for their immediate success while strategically bolstering the team. This move aligns with Mumbai Indians’ ethos, ensuring Hardik Pandya takes the helm for IPL 2024, continuing the legacy of visionary leadership.
