The Sri Lankan left-arm seamer has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury, casting doubts over his participation in the upcoming season.
At just 17 years old, Maphaka’s impressive performance at the Under-19 World Cup in South Africa earned him the title of Player of the Tournament, setting a record with 21 wickets. Maphaka’s early cricketing career has been marked by rapid progression, having represented South Africa at multiple junior levels and even earning opportunities with the ‘A’ and Emerging Teams. Maphaka’s arrival at his base price of INR 50 lakh will inject fresh energy into the team, marking another instance of MI’s knack for identifying and investing in budding cricketers.
Renowned for his lethal left-arm pace, Kwena Maphaka played a pivotal role in South Africa’s journey to the Under-19 World Cup semi-finals, showcasing his prowess with speeds reaching up to 140kph and expert death bowling skills.
