Uganda men’s cricket team joyously secured their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 after a nine-wicket win over Rwanda, celebrating with exuberant dance and collective photos.
Uganda’s cricket team secured a historic spot in the T20 World Cup 2024, marking their entry as the fifth African nation in this event after a monumental victory against Rwanda. The win has brought Uganda into the global arena of cricket, confirming their participation in the tournament to be held in the West Indies and the United States of America.
After a massive nine-wicket win on Thursday, November 30, Uganda’s players and staff jubilantly celebrated this milestone, captured in a viral video showcasing their collective dance and group photos. This victory also establishes Uganda as the second African team, alongside Namibia, to advance to the main tournament through the Africa Qualifier.

In the first innings, Rwanda posted a total of 65 runs in 18.5 overs, batting first. Uganda efficiently chased down the target in 8.1 overs with the loss of only one wicket.
Meanwhile, despite their promising status, Zimbabwe fell short, ranking third in the regional finals despite three wins in five games. Following the Africa Qualifier’s outcome, the 20-team lineup for the tournament has been completed.
The main event is scheduled from June 4 to June 30th, 2024, where the top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8 stage, leading to the semi-finals and the ultimate showdown.
