Kohli played a crucial unbeaten knock of 29 off 37 balls on Day 5 to guide India to a series win.
In a video circulating on social media platform X, Kohli was seen hugging Rohit, Gambhir, and other teammates as he walked off the field after leading the team to victory. Earlier in the match, Kohli contributed 47 runs in the first innings, becoming the fastest player to reach 27,000 international runs. He joined the elite list of Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting in achieving this rare milestone. Watch the viral video below:
Gambhir Praises Rohit and Kohli For the Win
Head coach Gautam Gambhir recently praised both Kohli and Rohit for their performances, particularly during India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. Speaking in a press conference, Gambhir expressed confidence in the duo’s future contributions to Indian cricket.
“They’ve shown what they can deliver on the big stage, whether in the T20 World Cup or the 50-over World Cup. I believe both players have a lot of cricket left in them. With the Champions Trophy and the big tour of Australia ahead, they will be motivated. Hopefully, they can maintain their fitness until the 2027 World Cup as well,” Gambhir remarked.

In the second Test, while Kohli delivered consistent performances, Rohit Sharma struggled across both matches, managing scores of 6, 5, 23, and 8 in his four innings. Despite Rohit’s challenges, India sealed the series 2-0, showcasing a strong all-round performance.
