Virat Kohli expressed his joy after winning the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) Orange Cap, describing himself as “really pleased” with his performance for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) this season. Kohli’s exceptional run tally of 741 runs in 15 matches, which included a century and five fifties, secured him the top run-scorer title. Opening alongside captain Faf du Plessis, Kohli maintained an impressive average of 61.75 and a striking 154.69.
In a post-final message relayed by Shreyas Iyer in Chennai, Kohli expressed his gratitude for being awarded the Orange Cap, highlighting the team’s collective effort, particularly during the crucial stage of the season. Looking ahead, Kohli voiced his ambition to continue his stellar form into the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies, aiming to replicate his success in the 2025 IPL season. Kohli also extended his appreciation to fans for their unwavering support.
“Extremely honoured to receive the orange cap for this season. It was a roller-coaster of a ride, I was really pleased with the way I performed for my team throughout the season but more importantly in the latter half where we needed to win every game to qualify,” Kohli said in a recorded message after the final as Shreyas Iyer collected the award on his behalf in Chennai.
“Something that I hope to replicate in the 2025 season of the IPL as well. Thank you everyone for your support,” he added.
