Virat Kohli’s Availability for Ranji Trophy Opener in Doubt
Virat Kohli was uncertain about playing in the upcoming Ranji Trophy game against Saurashtra due to a neck injury, with his participation depending on further recovery updates.
Virat Kohli’s participation in Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra on January 23 remains uncertain after he suffered a neck sprain. The star batter has reportedly taken an injection as part of his recovery process. According to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), the organization has not received any updates from Kohli regarding his condition.
A source stated, “Virat Kohli had a neck sprain and took an injection. There is a possibility of him missing the first Ranji Trophy game, and a clear picture would emerge if the Delhi selectors are given an update by the player.” Kohli’s inclusion in the Delhi squad is still a possibility, with the batter expected to join the team for training in Rajkot before the game against Saurashtra. The Delhi squad is scheduled to leave on January 20 and will hold two practice sessions before the match.
Kohli’s name will be added to the squad with a “subject to availability” clause, and the situation may change based on the update received by the DDCA selectors before their meeting on January 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is confirmed to play in the match, and some officials are optimistic that he will also feature in the final game against Railways.
