In the ongoing IPL Eliminator match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli’s spectacular fielding effort resulted in the crucial run-out of Dhruv Jurel, adding a twist to the match.
In the 14th over, Cameron Green bowled a short delivery, which Riyan Parag pulled firmly towards deep square leg. Kohli, positioned at deep square leg, covered a significant distance to field the ball. Despite the opportunity for an easy two runs, a momentary hesitation between the batters proved costly. Kohli fired a precise throw to the bowler’s end, where Green almost fumbled but managed to dislodge the bails in time. Replays confirmed that Jurel’s bat was short of the crease when the stumps were broken.
Jurel, departing for a run-a-ball eight, left Rajasthan Royals four wickets down. This run-out came at a crucial moment, especially after Ferguson had conceded 11 runs in the previous over, including a six by Parag. After the wicket, Shimron Hetmyer entered the field as the ‘Impact Player’ for RR.
Earlier, Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals successfully restricted the in-form Royal Challengers Bangalore to 172/8. Avesh Khan, despite a shaky start, claimed three wickets for RR, while Ravichandran Ashwin impressed with figures of 2/19.
For RCB, Virat Kohli contributed 33 runs off 24 balls, and Rajat Patidar added 34 off 22. Mahipal Lomror provided a late boost with a quickfire 32 from 17 balls. However, RR’s bowlers ensured Bengaluru never established a steady partnership, effectively containing their batting lineup.
