On the match front, India dominated Day 2 of the first Test in Perth, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s brilliant five-wicket haul, which bowled out Australia for just 104. In reply, openers Jaiswal and KL Rahul played steadily, with Jaiswal scoring 90 not out off 193 balls and Rahul remaining unbeaten on 62 from 154 balls. They adopted a patient approach, carefully navigating Australia’s quality fast bowlers.
The pair amassed 88 runs in 31 overs after tea, with Jaiswal closing in on a century in his debut Test in Australia. Their partnership of 172 runs for the first wicket, leading by 218 runs at stumps on Day 2, have left Australia with a mountain to climb.
