RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli scored the 8th century of his IPL career against the Rajasthan Royals on April 6th.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s star batter Virat Kohli continued his strong form in the IPL with an unbeatable century against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Kohli hit 12 boundaries and four sixes that contributed to his 100.
Besides the massive innings that held the ship for RCB and sailed through to put up a solid 183 runs on the board, Kohli also became the first player to cross 7500 runs in IPL history and the first player to cross the 100-run mark in IPL 2024.
Laying the foundation for a strong start, the former RCB skipper also led RCB to an impressive total as he partnered with Faf Du Plessis to stitch up a total of 125 runs in 14 overs—the highest runs scored in a partnership in IPL 2024.
Kohli hit his century on the fourth ball of the 19th over. RR’s pace bowler Nandre Burger delivered a low full toss outside the off stump as Kohli hammered it down the long off to complete his century.
After his innings in an interview, Kohli told the press about their mindset for the match and how his innings impacted RCB’s total. “Our target was 190 at the start, but once Faf got out, it was important for me to stay till the end. I’m not coming with premeditation. I do whatever the surface offers me. I can’t be overly aggressive. I know I can step up whenever required, as I’m hitting the ball well. But once I’m set and I bat beyond the six overs, I know we can get to a good total,” concluded Kohli.
