Sunil Chhetri admired Virat Kohli’s fitness dedication after the cricketer shared his latest test scores.

The friendship between Virat Kohli, one of India’s greatest cricketers, and Sunil Chhetri, the country’s most celebrated footballer, has always been well known. Their bond goes beyond cricket and football, reflecting a strong sense of brotherhood. The two often engage in regular conversations, and recently, Chhetri revealed his admiration for Kohli’s unmatched obsession with fitness despite already being among the world’s top cricketers.

Kohli recently underwent a mandatory fitness assessment in London, England, where he is currently living with his family. These tests were compulsory for all players, and since the Delhi-born batter could not attend the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence facility in Bengaluru, he completed the assessment in England. Kohli later shared his results with Chhetri.

“A few days back, he (Kohli) was sending me his scores of one of the tests he was doing. It is so addictive, and it is so good to know these kinds of people. On your bad days, when you feel a bit lethargic, you see them and think, ‘let’s go’. When you are at the top, everyone wants to be a Virat Kohli or a Ronaldo, and for these two to keep their place is unbelievable,” Chhetri revealed on the DesiPL podcast, as quoted by Indian Express.

“I don’t know Ronaldo personally. I have watched him, studied him. I know Virat (Kohli). The one common thing about these two is that they are just not happy with what they have already achieved. I tried in my whatever way to inculcate the same thing because once when you start getting into that circle where you start thinking about what you have done, good or bad, then you are not in the same track that you want to be,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kohli is set to return to cricket with the upcoming ODI series against Australia, starting in October. Having retired from Tests and T20 Internationals, the 36-year-old will now play only ODIs for India. Reports also suggest that he may retire after the 2027 ODI World Cup in Africa.
