Virat Kohli Back in Nets

Virat Kohli returned to Lord’s for intense practice as talks of retirement continued around him.
Ace India batter Virat Kohli has returned to training at Lord’s, even as speculation about his international retirement continues to make headlines. According to a report in RevSportz, Kohli spent two intense hours in the indoor nets at the historic venue in London, preparing for India’s next ODI challenge against Australia.
India are set to face Australia in a three-match ODI series beginning October 19, and Kohli has already begun gearing up. The report said he trained with great intensity against both spin and pace, showcasing his wide range of strokes. Onlookers were left impressed by his commitment and focus, which has remained a trademark of his long career. Part of his training was also overseen by Naeem Amin, Gujarat Titans’ assistant coach in the IPL.

Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla responded to questions about whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would be given a farewell series similar to the one Sachin Tendulkar received in 2013.

“When did they retire? Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will both play one-dayers. So, if they are playing, why are you worried about a farewell series? Yes, they have retired from two formats in phases, but they are playing in ODIs, right?” Shukla said.
“Our policy at the BCCI is very clear. We don’t tell any player to retire. A player makes that call himself. He has to decide and we respect that. We can only decide something when it’s official,” he added.
As of now, it remains unclear whether Kohli and Rohit will be asked to play against Australia A at home before the white-ball tour in October-November.
In the twilight of his career, Kohli has been devoting significant time to practice, with every session aimed at sharpening his strengths and extending his impact in the ODI format.
