Virat Kohli’s underwhelming performance at the top of the order in the T20 World Cup has sparked debate, but coach Rahul Dravid remained confident of a big score from him in the final.
Virat Kohli’s opening stint for India at the T20 World Cup has been a cause for concern. The star batter has only managed 75 runs in seven matches, with a highest score of 37 against Bangladesh. This has led to calls for Kohli to be moved back to his usual number three position, with Rishabh Pant taking the opening slot.
However, head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma have traditionally preferred consistency in their playing XI. While a change in the batting order for the final against South Africa seems unlikely, Dravid has expressed his faith in Kohli to deliver a big performance.

“With Virat, playing a high-risk game can sometimes backfire. Even today, he struck a good six to set the tone, but unfortunately the ball seamed a bit more. But I appreciate his intent, the way he went about his innings,” Dravid said, as quoted by NDTV Sports.
Rahul Dravid hinted at a potential return to form for Kohli. “There’s a big one coming up, for some reason, I don’t want to jinx it. I really like his attitude and his commitment on the field – I believe he deserves it,” Dravid concluded.
The final between India and South Africa is set for June 29th. Kohli will be looking to silence his critics and contribute significantly to India’s quest for T20 World Cup glory.
