Sehwag believes India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, has the skill and mindset to win the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai.
India will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against UAE on September 10 in Dubai, aiming to defend the title they won in 2023. This year’s tournament will be played in T20I format.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead a strong 15-member squad. However, the challenge is expected to be tougher with matches lined up in Dubai. Despite the competition, cricket legend Virender Sehwag expressed strong belief in the team’s ability.
“Asia Cup has always brought out the best in Indian cricket. The team today has the skill, balance, and mindset to handle any challenge,” Sehwag said in a Sony Sports Network release.
“Playing in Dubai will be high-pressure, but that’s exactly the kind of stage where our players shine. I am confident India will once again make the nation proud by lifting the trophy,” he continued.
“This Indian team has the right mix of youth and experience, and under Surya’s fearless leadership, they can dominate Asia once again. His attacking mindset suits the T20 format perfectly, and if the team plays with the same intent, I have no doubt India can lift the trophy,” the former cricketer added.

India, eyeing a record-extending ninth Asia Cup, will begin their campaign against UAE before facing Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai and Oman on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. The tournament features two groups, with Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh drawn in Group B. After the group stage, the top four teams will move into the Super Four phase, leading to the final scheduled for September 28.
