Bangladesh’s skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and his two teammates dropped a simple catch in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka, creating a comical moment in the match.

In the ongoing second test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Chattogram, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and teammates Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Zakir Hasan were engaged in a hilarious act of juggling with a simple caught-behind delivery as they collectively failed to take the catch.

Sri Lanka, opting to bat first, looked to build a strong total. In the 121st over, a golden opportunity arose for Bangladesh when Khaled Ahmed’s delivery induced a thick outside edge from Sri Lankan batter Prabath Jayasuriya.

The edge offered a seemingly simple catching opportunity. However, what followed was a moment of collective failure and missed chances. The replay showed Shanto stationed at the first slip, unable to grasp the ball, and taking off towards the second slip, Dipu, who also failed to hold on to the ball. Hasan, then, attempted to catch it. Significantly, instead of a clean catch, the ball was seen bobbling between them in a juggling act before ultimately being dropped. Watch the video below:

The Bangladesh players were left visibly frustrated as they watched the missed opportunity slip away. However, Jayasuriya was sent back to the pavilion at the 142nd over by Shakib Al Hasan as the latter scalped his wicket with an LBW. Notably, Sri Lanka’s first inning ended with a challenging total of 531 runs on the scoreboard.
