India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her frustration after the series decider against Bangladesh, criticizing the umpires for what she believed were numerous poor decisions. Despite the Indian team being in control of the chase for 226, Harmanpreet stated that “pathetic umpiring decisions” left them disappointed as the game ended in a tie.
During her innings, Harmanpreet Kaur managed 14 runs from 20 balls before being dismissed with a contentious LBW decision. Unhappy with the umpire’s call, she expressed her frustration by punching her bat and smashing the stumps. While she argued that she had made contact with the ball before it hit her pad, the official dismissal on the scorecard was recorded as lbw.

“A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised,” Harmanpreet said in the post-match interview, her displeasure evident as she was given out caught at slip while attempting a sweep.
“The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly we’ll have to prepare ourselves.”

Despite showing her frustration with the umpire’s decision, Kaur acknowledged the crowd with a thumbs-up gesture as she approached the boundary rope.
However, her actions, which included smashing the stumps with her bat, could potentially lead to disciplinary action under the ICC Code of Conduct. Article 2.2 addresses “Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing” and may result in Suspension Points or a fine from her match fee if deemed in breach by the match referee.
