During the BCCI Awards, Axar Patel had the audience in stitches as he jokingly kept his plans for the Test series against England under wraps, citing the presence of England’s Test coach, Brendon McCullum.
Axar Patel added a touch of humor to the BCCI Naman Awards when questioned about his plans for the upcoming Test series against England. Axar playfully declared the details as top secret, refusing to unveil them, all in good fun.
The left-arm spinner cited the presence of Brendon McCullum, England’s Test coach, as the reason for his silence, saying, “It is top secret. I am not revealing right now before the series is coming in a few days. Aapne hi bola McCullum saamne baitha hai (you only said McCullum is sitting in front of me).”

Axar Patel, honored with the Best International Debut (Men) award for the 2020-21 season, showcased his skills by claiming an impressive 27 wickets in three Test matches against England at an average of 10.59.
In the upcoming series, Axar is a probable inclusion in the XI, accompanied by Ravindra Jadeja, back after missing the 2021 series. India will also be contemplating the addition of Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist-spinner, as a unique bowling option alongside Jadeja and Ashwin, offering a different dimension to the team’s bowling attack.
Following their 3-1 loss in the previous Test series in India, England faced criticism for struggling on turning tracks. In anticipation of similar conditions, England’s XI for the first Test in Hyderabad on 25th January features three spinners and only one pacer.
