During a rain delay in the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Pakistan, Starc, joining broadcasters Ricky Ponting and Trent Copeland, faced light-hearted teasing from Copeland. In a lighthearted conversation, Copeland playfully taunted Starc with a ‘money cough’ gesture, holding a currency note and jesting, “Sorry, Stitch up, mate.” This brought laughter all around. However, as the note slipped from Copeland’s hand, Starc retrieved it and returned it, saying, “You might need that, mate.”

After securing a lucrative deal, Starc reflected on missing the previous eight editions of the IPL, expressing no regrets about his choices. He credited these decisions for enhancing his Test career and felt grateful for the auction interest, describing himself as excited, thrilled, and surprised.
Starc, who last played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2015, boasts a record of 34 wickets in 27 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.17.
