In a recent match against Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Stars’ captain Glenn Maxwell, mic’d up during the game, humorously commented that Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf tends to favor bowling bouncers.
During the ongoing Big Bash League 2023-24, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has grabbed attention not just for his cricket skills but for his humorous on-field antics. In a recent match against Sydney Thunder, mic’d up for the game, Maxwell engaged in a lively exchange with Pakistani bowler Haris Rauf, humorously remarking on fast bowlers’ tendency to favor bouncers despite disregarding advice. He playfully questioned the purpose of team meetings if players stick to their own plans.
“Geez, they [fast bowlers] just wanna bowl bouncers,” Mawell said. In reply, Brett Lee, seated in the commentary box, responded, “Nothing wrong with that, skip.”
Shortly after, Rauf requested a long-on fielder, but Maxwell denied it, jesting, “C’mon, you’re bowling at 150, mate, back of the length. It’s his second ball! Seriously, Binga [Lee], what’s with you, the quicks?” He further reacted in amusement to Rauf’s rare dot ball, praising him for it.
A compilation video shared by the Big Bash League showcased Maxwell’s entertaining commentary, where he humorously critiqued fielding efforts and reflected on his own reduced fitness post the ODI World Cup.
